Peru

Summer 2012
While  Macy went off to girls camp and Patten &Nelson to Scout camp, Mackenzie went off to Peru!

Part of the tour was service oriented.  They visited a school  that  had no electricity and dirt floors. While there they help  put in a brick floor under a water spigot that served as the kids drinking/washing area.  They also helped the local women harvest potatoes.

Presenting the Dittmar Dolphins.....And looking so excited!!

Macy+Driving=Scary

This is the second driver in the works and I've decided
that teaching a child to drive is truly the scariest thing I've ever
done.  I'm happy to say Mackenzie is a very good driver and
I know Macy will be as well, just getting to that point is well,
have I mentioned SCARY?

Couldn't help but be excited with Macy as she got her permit, she was so EXCITED!

God Bless America....

Couldn't be more proud as my three Scouts  lead the neighborhood 4th of July Parade.

Getting ready to ride, just need to add some red, white and blue.

Saying Goodbye

We said goodbye to Milkyway our special needs bunnies this summer.  The vet said it was time to let him go as his quality of life was so diminished.  Oh, how we cried!!!!!!!

Wrapping Up the 2011-2012 School Year

Miss smarty pants graduated from National "junior" Honor Society and was inducted into  National Honor Society.

Patten had 8th grade graduation, but not before he played his last orchestra concert, was awarded for playing  all 5 sports offered at Bailey, and was given the gentle giant award from the teachers.

Our Family Just got Bigger

Meet Molly, she is the newest member of the family, whether we wanted her to be or not. I get a text from Mackenzie saying she wanted a kitten, I said no, we have a rabbit, it is enough. "My friend has a kitten and has to get rid of it today or it will meet an untimely demise, mom I love her!" "How can you love her if you haven't even seen or met her?" I say. "Mom, you loved me before I was born." How can you argue with that logic? Needless to say we now have a darling kitten, and I admit it, I love the kitten to my chagrin!

Needless to say Molly gets plenty of attention.

Scripture Reading, Making It Work

This cracked me up, I look over
during scripture reading and there is
Rhett.   Thanks for keeping it real
pal!

Tying the Shoe

I admit I put off the shoe tying lesson for a little while, who can help it when shoes these days have elastic in them, no lacing required.

It became apparent that we needed a lesson when we purchased a new pair of shoes with laces. I tried to get another pair with elastic but  Lillie would have nothing to do with them, she wanted laces, they were just so cool, I know, I'm  pathetic.

Lillie was determined to learn and was a fine student she had  the steps down  in a snap! How could she not with seven teachers.:)

Way to go Lillie Lou!

Jumpoline

The kids kept telling me that we needed to go to Jumpoline, I kept telling them" we have a trampoline why would I pay  money so you can do the same thing in a building?"  Soon after I saw an online coupon for 1/2 off, I thought all right we'll go give it a try.   However, after reading the details the whole thing  still bothered me because I had to pay by the hour, what ever happened to all day pass....I soon found out.

This was all of us after five minutes of jumping, laying down trying to catch our breath, including me!

Jumpoline is definitely a do-over activity, how can you beat wall to wall trampolines, a total blast even for the old mommy!

Cinderella Getting Ready For the Ball, April 2012

Getting ready for prom was a family affair....
Even Aunt Rebecca from Colorado helped with the hair.

Thank goodness for a wrist corsage.

Jared  & Mackenzie off to the ball!

Geo-caching

During spring break we decided we needed to get out of the house and do something different. We didn't have to go far to find different, just to the green belt down the street, which transformed our spring break.  The once small stream was swollen from all the rain the previous day and it turned our geo-caching into an adventure. The boys were thrilled  as we now  had to cross a treacherous stream, make a rock path, help the women folk across, get wet, and lose some socks down stream.
We found our sought after geo-cache prize and were rather proud of ourselves for figuring it out. Mackenzie ended up being the leader of the expedition and did a fantastic job.
All that water inspired our next project, building a boat.
Building the boat...Will it float?
Roped mom into carrying the boat...mom think its heavy...will it float?
We have a toast with grape soda for a safe journey...will it float?
Launching time...it floats, YEAH!
